Abstract
Several different types of plant growth regulators have been reported to affect a wide range of pests and diseases.
Most effects relate to observations of the development of pests and diseases following treatment of plants under laboratory conditions, and a variety of possible modes of action have been postulated.
Field experiments have suggested other mechanisms which may be involved.
The difficulties of predicting effects on pests and diseases and some implications of the regular use in the field of growth regulators are discussed.
