Abstract
Thrity-five fresh and processing tomato cultivars were evaluated in 1971–74 at Shendi (16°41 N), Sudan.
Cultivars FAO 7, Pearson VF-6, VFN 8, Victory, Pearson VF 36, Ace VF. Imp., and Roma gave the highest total yields with few defective fruits.

Yield and fruit size showed the feasibility of securing a regular supply of tomatoes for processing or fresh market.
Results on total soluble solids, pH and titratable acidity showed that most of the cultivars were suitable for canning.
