Abstract
Okra stalk left standing in the field provided a suitable support for climbing cowpeas and produced significant yield increases of 58 and 32%. Pods per plant, pod length and seed weight were favourably affected by support.
The use of okra stalk as support for climbing vegetables in small market gardens is suggested.
