Abstract
Comparisons of local and exotic cultivars indicated that watermelons could be successfully grown at Kumasi from October to May by selecting the proper cultivar.

It was found that better yields and quality fruits could be expected when harvesting was done in December and January.

Of exotic cultivars tested, Taiwan 5617 and Sugar Baby are recommended for growing at Kumasi.
