Some Chinese jujube genotypes grown on sandy soils of southwestern Romania

Abstract
A study on the behavior of the Chinese jujube genotypes in the pedoclimatic conditions of sandy soils from the Romanian Southern area began in the spring of 2019. On the Northern bank of the Danube River, at Dăbuleni Research & Development Station for Plant Cultivation on Sandy Soils, an experimental plot was established with four jujube genotypes (‘Li’, ‘Lang’, ‘Tigertooth’, and ‘L5’). The plants were planted on raised beds covered with polypropylene mulch fabric (Agrotextile) at a distance of 5×5 between rows and plants; the drip irrigation was provided under the mulch.
During 2019-2022, studies were carried out on tree grow (the trunk diameter; the canopy volume) as well studies on the fruit quality (average fruit weight (g), diameter (mm), height (mm), color fruit (L* a* b*) and yield (kg plant-1)). After the study period, the ‘Lang’ genotype stood out with the highest yield and vitamin C content (322 mg %) versus the other studied genotypes.
