Abstract
The jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.), among the temperate fruit tree species, has one of the highest resistances to drought and salinity, being recommended as a valuable crop, especially in climate changes and extended desertification more influenced regions.
There is a gap in the research about the jujube tree’s development and phenological growth stages in the world’s cultivation regions.
This species’ high nutritional, medicinal, and economic value led to a growing demand for commercial orchards, and the need to unveil its phenological behavior required extended regional research.
This study aimed to evaluate and describe the phenological growth stages of the jujube genotypes planted in the southeastern part of Romania at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Horticulture in Bucharest and the Fruit Research and Development Station Istrița.
The results also showed different growth stage codes on the BBCH scale, which are necessary for the correct timing of general orchard management, particularly for disease and pest management.
