Abstract
Several winter vegetative propagation methods of walnut (J.regia L.) resulted in grafting success of 5.0 to 45.0 per cent.
Modified cleft grafting technique at or above crown portion gave 45.0 and 25.0 per cent success respectively, however the final stand of the grafted plants was better in the later method.
Tongue grafting method though resulted in poor success (15.0 per cent) but the growth of grafted plants was better and ranked second in order.
Simple cleft, splice and saddle grafting methods resulted in poor success.

In the summer propagation techniques, the veneer grafting method during mid July resulted in highest success 90.0 per cent and also better growth of the grafted plants.
For this grafting method the terminal acions were defoliated about two weeks prior to the grafting.
Such plants were ready for transplanting after one complete growing season.
The various budding methods namely chip, T and Forkert resulted in very poor success.
