Abstract
Comparative observations on 36 promising clones of walnut have been done In 4 different geographic region, the results of 3 years study are reported.
Data are tabulated on the shelling yields, mean weight of nut and kernel, Kernel percentage, quality of nut and kernel.
Data of bud breaking, flowering, nut ripening and lateral fruitfulness, pest and disease resistance.
15 clones among them are more superior and will be released as first commercial cultivars in China.
They give the highest shelling yield of 300g/m2 3 years after top-working on 17 years old rootstock ( walnut seedlings ). They also bear good nut with soft and smooth shell, bright kernel and flavour.
