INVESTIGATION ON THE SUSCEPTIBILITY OF SOME APRICOT CULTIVARS AND HYBRIDS TO PLUM POX (SHARKA) VIRUS
The studied cultivars, having different origin and being in the 5 or 7 years of planting, pertain to the national collection of the Fruit Research Station at Constanta.
The purpose of this study was to identify some possible sources of resistance, to Plum-Pox virus (PPV) able to be used in breeding in order to obtain resistance descendants.
There was evidence that the majority of the cultivars and hybrids has a relative tolerance to the attack of Plum-Pox virus local strains.
A few valuable cultivars can be included as parents important for fruit production: Rosii timpurii; Traian; N.J.A. 48; Stella; Vivagold; Stark Early Orange; Harcot; Callatis; Kets pshor; Sephid, etc.
In the case of susceptible cultivars, this virus causes great damage to: Baneasa 28/10; Mamaia; Early Golden; Screara; Marculesti 42/25; Mandula caiszi; Slava Diurgna; Early Bee; Excelsior; Best of Hungary; etc.
