Abstract
The duration of deep dormancy of two prospective hybrid combinations – H.15 (Velkopavlovická LE-19/2 x Stark Early Orange) and H.48 (Vestar x Stark Early Orange) – was evaluated both from the point of view of the dynamics of dormancy termination and of the transfer to progeny in 1992–1994 winters.
High percentage of the hybrids in both the combinations terminated the dormancy in accordance with their parents and their intermediates.
With H. 15 hybrid combination, 51.2% of hybrids terminated the dormancy in accord with the female, 16.7% with the male, 24.6% between the parents and 7.5% before the female, no hybrid later than male.
With H.48 hybrid combination, 13.6% of progenies terminated the dormancy in accord with the female, 20.5% with the male, 55.5% between the parents, only 1% before the female and 9.4% of progeny after the male.
A new positive character – late dormancy termination – appeared more frequently with H.48 hybrids from which 9 hybrids terminated the dormancy after late-terminating male variety, Stark Early Orange.

Later dormancy termination is a well heritable quantitative trait if one of the parents having this trait is used.
