Abstract
Tree growth, yield and root length density decreased with the decrease of the amount of water applied for the two apricot cultivars.
Crop coefficients (kc) 0.63, 0.56 and 0.51 reflect water use of 945, 832 and 764 mm/season for 60%, 40% and 20% of available water respectively.
However, Kc for “Hamawy” were 0.62, 0.54 and 0.50 and these reflect lower amount of water use of 920, 815 and 650 mm/season for 60%, 40% and 20% of available soil water respectively.

The results showed great differences in WU between both apricot cultivars.
Water use was associated with the increase in tree growth, yield and RLD, the cultivar which had the highest water use produces vigour trees with higher productivity and larger RLD.
