Abstract
Premature dieback of apricot trees varies by the cultivar.
The aim of the present paper, therefore, was to evaluate the vitality and cropping of 17 promising apricot hybrids.
The aim of the present paper, therefore, was to evaluate the vitality and cropping of 17 promising apricot hybrids.
Studies were carried out on survival rate and cropping of the trees in the 10th, 12th and 15th year after planting.
The average percentage of survival in the 15th year, across all three replications, ranged from 16.25% to 83.3%. Hybrids VI/27 and XI/1 showed a 100% survival rate in their 15th year in two replications.
Cropping showed great variations from year-to-year and it was mostly affected by the meteorological conditions at the apricot flowering time.
Average cropping ranged from 1.0 to 3.8 points across all three study years and three replications.
