Abstract
The use of two wild grapes Vitis lanata Roxb. and Vitis himalayana Br. has been suggested for use in hybridization programms for grapes for evolving late ripening varieties or varieties resistant to excessive rains during the ripening time.
Similarly, it has also been suggested that ‘Kateru’ and other wild peach types growing in parts of the Himalayas might be used for evolving very late varieties of peach.
