Abstract
Recently there has been an increasing interest in growing less important fruit species which not only have considerable economic but also ornamental value.
Most of these species have a very high content of desirable nutritious substances, suitable for providing valuable raw materials for processing industry.
This paper summarises the results of many years work on breeding fruting rose, European elder, rowan-berry, service-berry, wild cornel, hazelnut, blueberry, bilverry, mulberry, sea buckthorn and actinidia.
