Abstract
A method for sensory evaluation of apple cvs has been developed and used for several years at the Agr.
Univ of Norway.
The reliability of this method has been confirmed by comparing the results with a consumer survey.
Cv.
Aroma, and to some extent Summerred, were among those with high flavour scores and with high preference among the consumers.

The consumer survey also gave information about desirable apple fruit properties in general.

During recent years the procedure for sensory evaluation has also been used in connection with the selection of apple seedlings.
The most promising selection at present is the Aroma-offspring ARX 49–18.
