EFFECTS OF INDOLE BUTYRIC ACID AND BENZYLADENINE ON THE PROCESS OF ADVENTITIOUS PLANTLET FORMATION “IN VITRO” ON BULB-SCALE EXPLANTS OF HYACINTH
A method for vegetable propagation in vitro of hyacinths is being developed, based on adventitious plantlet formation on bulb-scale (initiation stage) and leaflet explants.
Many factors are known to influence these processes, e.g. explant size, previous bulb-storage conditons, culture temperature, plants growth regulation etc.
Next to general outline of the propagation procedure, data are presented on the effects of the auxin indole butyric acid (IBA) and the cytokinin benzyladenine (BA) in the nutrient medium on the regeneration process on bulb-scale explants.
IBA as well as BA affected the politarity of the regeneration sites on the explants, the number of plantlets formed, and the fresh weight of their bulblets.
Basal and non-basal tissue of these explants responded differently to the plant growth regulators.
