During the last few years there has been a steady worldwide increase in the demand for fresh herbs.
One of the consequences of this trend is the increased consumption of herbs and spices grown in pots.
The decorative aspect of these plants has a major influence on their marketability.

Four species of the Labiateae as well as Laurus nobilis (Lauraceae) served as plant material for these experiments.
