Abstract
The omitting or decreasing of the concentration of some organic compounds of the media used for gerbera micropropagation could reduce laboratory costs.
Shoots of three gerbera cultivars, Clementine, Saskia and Terravisa, were multiplied on media without or with the addition of thiamine, pyridoxine, nicotinic acid, meso-inositol, tyrosine and adenine sulfate in original strength or in concentration reduced to ½ or ¼. In three subsequent passages, the multiplication rate of gerbera shoots did not depend on the concentration of thiamine, pyridoxine, meso-inositol, and adenine sulphate.
The multiplication coefficient of ‘Saskia’ shoots was influenced by nicotinic acid concentration in the medium.
