Abstract
Snapdragon is normally propagated by seeds, but it can be propagated by cuttings in order to have an earlier crop, omitting the first very critical stage of seedling growth.
Two cultivars of snapdragon were sown spring flowering, and cultivated under tunnel with the daily temperature about 15–20°C and night temperature 3–4°C lower.
Cuttings collected from stock plants were inserted in a perlite rooting medium after treatment with various growth regulators.
Treatment with 500 ppm NAA and the mixture of NAA and IAA (2000/2000 and 2000/500 ppm, respectively) greatly enhanced root formation.
Treatment with ABA or Ethephon retarded root growth.
