Abstract
Due to high genetic variation on walnut population in Iran a program for selection of superior cultivar was started in 1984, the following preliminary results were obtained among 250 preselected genotypes from 1987–1991.
The earliest fruit beating clone was observed on n° K21 and the highest productive was on n° B21–1. In general about 10 % of the genotypes were identified to be in the late leafing group and clone n° K143, K96, K114, K66 have been recorded in the latest leafing group.
About 5 % of genotypes were identified to have lateral forms, however clones n° K21 and KH87 which have 100 % lateral.
The most vigorous clones were considered on n° K75 & KH3.
