Abstract
The first results of field behaviour of 21 pecan cultivars (Carya illinoinensis) (19 from USA, one local seedling and one seedling of unknown origin) are presented in a collection located at Mas Bové Center (Tarragona). Agronomic characters (vegetative traits, blooming, maturity and productivity) and commercial characters (nut characteristics) were studied.
This species has shown a good vegetative and productive behaviour in the Mediterranean conditions of the collection.
Most of cultivars behaved similarly to expected from results in other areas.
Pest and disease control was easy.
