Abstract
Experiments were conducted to demonstrate the positive effects of carbon dioxide on large scale production of certain tree species – Achras sapota, Wrightia tomentosa, Feronia limonia, Terminalia bellerica and Celastrus paniculatus to improve not only the cultural growth but also the survival percentage ex vitro.
Results have indicated that shoots multiplied at much higher rates under carbon dioxide enrichment in all the plant species.
The overall growth parameters such as fresh weight, dry weight, number and length of shoots showed significant enhancement over the control.
The ex vitro growth of these plantlets was also improved under CO2 enriched environment.
