Abstract

Attested since Antiquity, developed in the Middle Ages under the impulse of the great abbeys of the Loire, largely recomposed after the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century, the vineyard has contributed throughout history to forge the cultural identity of Anjou.
In the “Chenin country”, as in the other wine-producing areas of Maine-et-Loire, this heritage has indeed left many testimonies in the landscape, the architecture and the traditional know-how, thus contributing to the creation of a very rich wine-producing heritage.
