Abstract
The most important horticulture society in Romania recently celebrated 110 years of existence.
The present paper gives below a brief review of society activity, its life and personalities, carried out in two historical periods: the first period begins with the foundation of the “Romanian Horticultural Society” on February 17, 1913 and ends with the abusive dissolution, by “Law no. 119 of June 11, 1948”, by which, the communist government established in Romania by the Soviet Union, outlawed all non-governmental organizations.
The second period covers the activity of the Society after its reestablishment on 16 April 1991, following the country’s democratization after the “Revolution of December 1989” until the present day.
