VEGETATIVE AND CROPPING PERFORMANCE OF KIWIFRUIT (CV. HAYWARD) AS RELATED TO PRUNING LENGTH AND BUD NUMBER

Abstract
The aim of the experiment was to verify the influence of the number of buds left after winter pruning on vegetative and cropping performance of kiwifruit vine.

The same number of buds (220) was left on 6-year-old vines of cv.
Hayward T-bar trained.
Half of them had the buds distributed on 11 canes, while the other half had the buds on 22 canes.

As far as productive parameters are concerned, no particular differences were detected between the two pruning treatments.

As far as vegetative parameters are concerned, it is noteworthy that the type and the distribution of the shoots on the 11-cane vines were different from those on the 22-cane vines.
