Abstract
After a brief survey of the general metabolism of the cut flowers senescence, the results of some experiments with various cytokinins supplied to cut carnations ( var.
SCANIA ) are discussed.
The interest of cytokinins ( 6-Benzylaminopurine, kinetin ) in increasing the vase life is very limited, but these substances may play a role with regard to water stress.
Some perspectives to increase the efficiency of preservatives solutions are suggested.
