Abstract
Chemical pinching of Azalea has been investigated with some substances, varying substantially with regard to their chemical composition, viz.: Off-Shoot-O, Atrinal, Fison NC 9634 and Uni Royal P 293. A requirement for a optimal result is a complete or nearly complete killing of the terminal bud, without retarding growth of the laterals, and without leaf damage.
None of the investigated substances meet this requirement completely, but most of them can be used in practice.
