Abstract
Callus tissue of carnation – Dianthus caryohyllus cv.
Lena – derived from shoot apices of young plants obtained in vitro, was grown on M.S. medium containing half strength of mineral salts with addition of different growth regulators.
Lena – derived from shoot apices of young plants obtained in vitro, was grown on M.S. medium containing half strength of mineral salts with addition of different growth regulators.
Abundant root hairs appeared when 3.0 or 30.0 μM IAA in conjunction with 0.03 μM BA were used, also when 30.0 μM NAA with 0.03 μM BA and when only cytokinin was applied.
Neither shoots nor embryoids were observed in the tissue.
Cultures grew best on media with 30.0 μM NAA or 3.0 μM 2,4-D associated with 0.03 μM BA and on medium where 2,4-D in concentrations 0.3 and 3.0 μM was used alone.
