MODIFYING EFFECTS OF ANCYMIDOL AND GIBBERELLINS ON TEMPERATURE INDUCED ELONGATION IN FUCHSIA X HYBRIDA

Abstract
In Fuchsia x hybrida high day/low night temperature resulted in an unfortunate shoot elongation and a delay in flowering.
Ancymidol restricted the elongation effectively and promoted the flowering with at least one week.
Spraying the plants with gibberellins (GA3 and GA4+7) delayed the flowering with one to two weeks and stimulated shoot elongation.
The greatest elongation was observed after use of GA4+7 to plants at low day/high night temperature.
This may indicate that the endogenous gibberellin content is low at this temperature combination.
