Abstract
The influence of jasmonic acid (JA) on differentiation of bean meristems and grapevine and potato stem cuttings was investigated in vitro.
In bean meristems addition of JA in concentrations higher than 0.1 μM to full and half strength MS medium with 5 μM of BA retarded callus formation.
Grapevine and potato stem cuttings grew on MS medium; JA added in concentrations from 0.01 to 1 μM significantly increased the length and number of nodes per plant.
Higher concentrations decreased plantlet length much more than the number of the nodes.
The number of roots per plant increased with increasing JA concentration, but the roots shortened and diameter increased.
