GENOTYPE RESPONSE TO IN VITRO GYNOGENESIS TECHNIQUE IN GERBERA JAMESONII

Abstract
Haploid lines through in vitro gynogenesis have been successfully obtained in some pot-gerbera genotypes under selection at Minoprio Centre.
Twenty one lines were tested on several media for callus induction and shoot regeneration; moreover, for few of them, two temperatures of ovule culture, light and dark conditions and low temperature pretreatment of the capitulum were investigated.
Ploidy level was verified on root tip cells of in vitro or acclimatized plants.
Out of the 21 genotypes tested, 9 did not produce calli, 6 produced calli but not shoots, and 6 produced both calli and plantlets.
Genotype appears to be the most relevant factor.
