Abstract
Anthers of Citrus reticulata Blanco, Citrus deliciosa Tenore, Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck, Citrus limon L. Burm, Citrus paradisi Macfadyen and tangelo ‘Mapo’ (C.deliciosa x C. paradisi) were cultured in different media, over several years, in order to obtain haploids.
Non embryogenic compact, hard calli that were broun and green were obtained in different media.
Very rarely calli produced "pseudo" embryos and shoots after subculture on hormone free media.
Haploid, diploid and polyploid cells were observed in the calli.
Proliferations were more diffuse on the outer tissues of anthers, but dividing pollen grains were often found.
