Abstract
BRGV Buzau has in conservation many pea genotypes in various breeding phases.
The germplasm collection is composed of 86 cultivars, of which 27 are genetically stable showing distinct phenotypic expressiveness, being the main subject of the present study.
The accessions used were subjected to intensive breeding works and conservative selection for 5 years (2019-2023). During this period, observations were made regarding genetic stability, the inheritance of useful traits for subsequent generations, phenological observations, biometrics and laboratory analyses.
It was found that in terms of precocity, the genotypes L1, L3, L22, L20 and L18 are the earliest.
And the latest genotypes are L14, L24, L15, L25, L6, L13, L21, L27. Genotype L7 has purple pods and red flowers and L6 has red flowers and green pods.
L16 has a foliage with small leaflets and very rich in tendrils.
Regarding plant height, the highest value was recorded by L5 with an average height of 132 cm.
The lowest value was recorded by L23 with an average height of 54 cm.
Regarding the weight of the pod, the highest value was obtained by L21 of 9.2 g and the lowest was obtained by L16 with 2 g.
The research was completed by obtaining a new variety of peas, L26. This new variety is distinct by its genetic stability, productivity, the quality of the pods and great potential to keep for a longer period of time the organoleptic characteristics of the bean on the plant as well as after harvesting.
This cultivar is registered for patenting under the name of ‘Pontica’. The studied resources were gene banked and introduced into the medium- and long-term conservation program.
