Abstract
Prunus dulcis stands out as an important species among hard-shelled nuts in Turkiye, its significance is underscored by several factors including blooming date, self-compatibility, tree architecture, ripening time, harvest date, and kernel quality, all critical objectives within almond breeding programs.
To address this challenge, modern breeders have integrated conventional and molecular breeding methods, leveraging next-generation technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and expedite the development of high-quality varieties within a shorter timeframe.
This paper contains QTLs related to harvest date in almond through QTL-seq mapping, offering insights into the genetic of this important trait.
The aim of the study was to determine the associated loci with harvest date using the QTL-seq mapping approach in the ‘Gulcan-2 × Lauranne’ F1 population.
Phenotyping of this population for harvest date in 2015 and 2016 years were recorded and extreme phenotyping plants were bulked within the separate bulks themselves.
And both parents were sequenced, and QTL-seq were mined linked loci.
The range of the 1-7.9 Mb genomic regions of chr4 was defined as responsible for harvest date.
A total of 3080 SNPs and 940 InDels were calculated within p95 confidence interval into same chromosomal locations.
As a result, the highest associated loci for harvest date can be used to perform marker assisted selection at early stage for future almond breeding.
