Abstract
The performance of NAA, NAAm, carbaryl and ethephon in single applications and combination sprays was evaluated in thinning trials using either a common wetting agent or an emulsifiable mineral oil as adjuvant.
NAA and NAAm applied separately or in combination with carbaryl resulted in excellent thinning when mineral oil was added.
In all applications at 21 days following full bloom mineral oil did not improve the thinning result of the applied chemicals.
In combination with ethephon increased fruit set was recorded.
Regardless of its thinning intensity ethephon treatments had a strong inhibiting effect on fruit growth.
The best results concerning thinning intensity mean fruit weight and size distribution of fruit were obtained with NAAm in single application and NAAm followed by a later application of carbaryl when mineral oil was used as adjuvant.
