Abstract
In a field trial effects of Cultar (paclobutrazol) on growth, flower bud formation and cropping of two apple cultivars were studied and compared with Alar.
Paclobutrazol decreased shoot growth and increased flower number and fruit set.
Abundant fruit set decreased fruit size especially of Spartan apples.
Ground application of Cultar gave the best results.
Altar was less effective than Cultar.
