Abstract
One-year-old nursery trees used for planting orchards should posses an adequate number of side shoots to form a crown with a sufficient number of well fruiting branches.
However, nursery trees do not branch easily at the proper height, required to form the crowns.
The buds which develop on the upper part of the stem can be forced to grow into branches by removing the apical buds or by chemical treatment.
One of the chemicals used to promote side branching in nursery tree is Promalin, a product of Abbott from Belgium.
