Abstract
‘Linglongcui’ is a cherry cultivar that was selected by Changli Institute of Pomology, Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Science.
It was derived from natural seedling progeny of ‘Rainier’ cultivar.
Open pollinated seeds of which were cultured using embryo rescue technology in 2000 and regenerated into plants.
It was initially selected in 2004 for its high quality and good comprehensive characters, 107 plants were obtained, and after three years of observation, One of Rainier’s seedlings (code:3-25) was identified as the primary clone . In 2005, the clone was grafted on the three-year-old ‘Hongdeng’ tree.
A multi-point regional experiment was started in the cherry-growing areas of Hebei Province in 2009. Through the evaluation of its fruit economic and botanical characteristics, growth habits, yield and adaptability.
The results showed that ‘3-25’ has the characteristics of large fruit, high yield, high quality, resistance to stress and tolerant to storage.
Comprehensive economic characteristics of which are stable.
The study results were approved by Hebei Provincial Forest Cultivar Examination and Approval Committee in 2017 and ‘3-25’ was officially named ‘Linglongcui’. The fruit of ‘Linglongcui’ is yellow-skinned with bright pink, and large and kidney-shaped with an average fruit weight is 9.5g and a maximum fruit weight of over 16 g.
The flesh is yellow, juicy and firm.
Its good-flavor is due to low acidity and high sweetness.
The soluble solids content is 20.5%. The fruit development period is 55 to 60 days, and it matures in early-June in Changli area.
The tree is moderately vigorous.
