Abstract
‘Ji Jiu’ is a new strawberry cultivar bred from the cross between ‘Sweet Charlie’ as the female parent and ‘Benihoppe’ as the male parent.
The fruit of ‘Ji Jiu’ is sweet and sour, with excellent aroma, making it suitable for fresh consumption.
The fruit is large, evenly shaped, and conical.
The average weight of the first-class fruit is 64.3 g, while that of the second-class fruit is 36.9 g.
The fruit of ‘Ji Jiu’ is red, shiny, and possesses a strong aroma.
The fruit flesh is red, and the content of soluble solids content is 9.0-13.6%, with titratable acid content ranging from 0.56 to 0.69%, and vitamin C is 0.54 mg g-1. ‘Ji Jiu’ has good shipping quality and high yield of up to 468.4 g plant-1. The plants are robust, upright, and have strong propagation capabilities, with each plant capable of producing 10 to 15 runners. ‘Ji Jiu’ has a shallow dormancy and is suitable for forcing culture.
Additionally, ‘Ji Jiu’ displays high resistance to powdery mildew and Botrytis cinerea in fields and is also resistant to anthracnose and leaf spot in the seedling stage.
