Investigation and prospect of strawberry industry in Donggang City, China

Abstract
In this paper, the regional climate characteristics, cultivation area, cultivars, yield, output value, sale and brand of strawberry production were investigated and analyzed in Donggang City, Liaoning province, China.
At present, Donggang strawberry cultivation area was 13,700 hm2, the total production was 322,000 t, and the total output value was 6.44 billion RMB. The cultivation area and production account for 10.7 and 9.5% of the whole country, respectively.
Donggang City is the largest strawberry production base in China, which is well known as ‘China’s First Strawberry County’. Donggang City is named as ‘One County, One Industry’ and made strawberry as a demonstration industry by the Liaoning Provincial Government, and as ‘National High-Quality Strawberry Production Base’ by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China.
This paper expounds that the strawberry production in Donggang should strengthen scientific research, brand construction, and implement a standardized production system and quality traceability system.
Some development suggestions and prospects are also put forward.
