Abstract
Five experimental treatments (T1-T5) were evaluated for their efficacy in controlling strawberry whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) under greenhouse conditions, including 750× dilution of 200 g L‑1 imidacloprid (T1), 750× dilution of 0.1 g L‑1 cinnamaldehyde (T2), 750× dilution of 40% dinotefuran (T3), 750× dilution of 5% acetamiprid (T4), 750× dilution of 5% spinosad (T5). A water control (CK) was included for comparison.
The whitefly mortality rate was measured to assess the control efficacy of each treatment, providing a technical basis for integrated pest management (IPM) in greenhouse strawberry cultivation.
The experimental results demonstrated that all five pesticide treatments achieved 100% control efficacy after 7 days of application in sealed bags.
Under greenhouse conditions, acetamiprid exhibited the highest and most rapid control efficacy, reaching 89.47% mortality rate at 1 day post-treatment (DAT), followed by cinnamaldehyde with 88.78% efficacy.
In contrast, imidacloprid showed superior persistence, maintaining 97.73% control efficacy at 7 DAT. In agricultural practice, implementing rotational application strategies with diverse pesticide modes of action is recommended to mitigate whitefly resistance development.
Synergistic compound formulations should be optimized to balance immediate knockdown efficacy with prolonged residual control.
For greenhouse strawberry whitefly management, an integrated approach combining silver-black mulch application, systematic weed elimination, precision nutrient-water regulation, and yellow sticky trap deployment demonstrated significant control efficiency.
