Abstract
‘Shimei 12’ is an excellent new strawberry cultivar bred by crossing ‘Dasailkete’ as the female parent and ‘Shimei 6’ as the male parent.
The fruit of ‘Shimei 12’ is conic in shape, bright red in color, good in gloss, red in pulp, and lower in fiber.
The average weight of the first-order fruit and the second-order fruit is 32.6 and 21.0 g, respectively.
The average yield per plant is 443.6 g.
The fruit of ‘Shimei 12’ has good flavor, sweet and sour taste, and rich aroma.
Its soluble solids content and total acid content are 11.6 and 0.51%, respectively.
The fruit firmness of ‘Shimei 12’ reached 0.544 kg cm‑2, making it suitable for storage and transportation.
The fruit of ‘Shimei 12’ cultivated in the open-field in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province usually ripens in late April.
The fruit ripening period is 3-5 days earlier than ‘Darselect’. This strawberry cultivar has strong disease resistance, such as powdery mildew and leaf spot.
It is suitable for open-field cultivation in Shijiazhuang, Handan, Baoding, and similar climatic areas of Hebei Province.
