Abstract
Due to the paramount need for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mitigation, several strategies have been outlined accordingly.
Among them, embracing carbon farming, as part of the regenerative agriculture view, seems to have a definite role, as most studies reveal.
Carbon sequestration implies an increase in farm soil carbon stocks that can be measured or estimated in various ways.
A review of the current directions and perspectives for applying carbon farming practices to an ecological vegetable growing system is provided to highlight its sustainability.
An up-to-date list of scientific papers that discussed the mentioned subject has been studied.
The majority of finding from the literature emphasize the benefits of carbon farming, both for the environment, for the farmer himself and for the entire community also.
However, few authors illustrated other farmers discontent regarding carbon farming and similar policies drafted at the government level.
So, even if an overwhelming percentage of the data points out the sustainable character of carbon farming due to its multiple advantages, the reluctance of the few farmers conducted us to the idea of pointing out a brief SWOT analysis of all the factors that carbon farming implies, to conclude regarding its future perspective objectively.
Overall, the conclusions drawn by this analysis outlined that carbon farming should be a part of the current solution to the agricultural issues due to the climate-friendly crops and methods it promotes, delivering food sovereignty and climate justice.
