Abstract

The skill heritage from the professional farmers to the newcomers has been an enduring challenge.
One difficulty lies in the invisible feature of hand force distribution during routine agriculture operation.
In this paper, a force sensitive data glove is proposed to visualize the hand force distribution.
The conductive threads and tactile films are sewed into the glove to form one hundred force sensors on each hand.
The customized multiplexing amplify circuit are adopted to detect the force sensor data.
And the preprocessed data are wirelessly transmitted and visualized on the smartphone terminal in real-time.
Moreover, the developed data gloves are applied into peach grip force analysis to verify its effect.
Through the field study, at the first time, we quantitatively studied the grip force distribution of the peach grip operation.
And it is found that even with the same peach grip operation, there are visually detectable differences in terms of both magnitude and variance of hand force distribution between skilled farmers and novices.
